Know the Law of Kissing in Ramadan

Know the Law of Kissing in Ramadan – During the month of Ramadan, there are many things that must be considered and even kept holy. In not Ramadan, many people want to fast in order to get a lot of wisdom and rewards that will be obtained in old age. For married couples, kissing is a legitimate thing to do as a form of expression of affection and love. But while fasting in Ramadan, is it permissible to kiss? This is what sometimes makes people confused in responding to it. It was said by Ustadz Ammi Nur Baits, the Board of Trustees of the Islamic site Sharia Consultation from Madinah International University, kissing or fondling a partner while fasting is allowed, as long as it does not come out of semen and invites lust. In his writings, Ustadz Ammi said there are several arguments that can be used as a reference.

First, from Aisha radhiallahu ‘anha, said:
ان لُ اللهِ لى الله ليه لم لُ صَائِمٌ اشِر ائِمٌ لَكِنَّه ان لَكَكُم لأَرَبِه
“The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam once kissed and made out with his wife while fasting, but he was the one who was the strongest in restraining his lust.” (Narrated by Al Bukhari and Muslim)

Second, in another narration, Aisha also said:
ان لُ اللهِ لى الله ليه لم لُني صَائِمٌ ا ائمة
“The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam once kissed me when he was fasting and I was fasting too.” (Abu Dawud with a chain according to the conditions of Bukhari)

Third, in the hadith of Umm Salamah it is also mentioned that the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam kissed her when she was fasting (Narrated by Bukhari)

The condition for not having semen come out is a hadith that mentions the virtues of fasting. In the hadith, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam mentions the nature of people who fast, he leaves food, drink, and lust. In this Hadith Qudsi Allah says:
لُّ لِ ابْنِ لَهُ: الْحَسَنَةُ الِهَا لَى مِائَةِ لَّا الصِّيَامَ لِي ا الطَّعَامَ أَجْلِي
“All the deeds of Ibn Adam belong to him, and every obedience is multiplied ten times to 700 times. Except fasting, which is Mine and I alone will repay it. He left his food and lust for Me.” (Narrated by Ad-Darimi, At-Thabrani, Ibn Khuzaimah, etc.)

Allah SWT reveals the nature of the fasting person is the one who leaves his lust. That is, if he comes out of semen while fondling his partner, then he has fulfilled his lust, so that his fast is invalidated.
In line with this hadith, there is a narration from Jabir bin Abdillah radhiallahu ‘anhuma that Umar bin Khothab radhiallahu ‘anhu who said:
ا لْتُ ا ائِمٌ النَّبِيَّ لَّى اللَّهُ لَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لْتُ الْيَوْمَ ا ا لْتُ ا ائِمٌ
“One day my lust flared up so I kissed (my wife) even though I was fasting, then I came to the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. I said: I have done a dangerous deed today, I kissed while I was fasting. Then the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:

لَوْ اءٍ ائِمٌ
“What do you think if you rinse your mouth with water when you are fasting?” I answered: Yes. Then the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “Then why kiss can break the fast?” (Narrated by Ahmad and authenticated by Shu’aib Al Arnauth)

In the hadith of Umar above, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam qiyaskan (analogize) between making out with gargling. Both are equally susceptible to breaking the fast.
When gargling, people are very close to swallowing water. But as long as he does not swallow water, his fast is not invalidated. As with kissing, one of the husband or wife has the potential to release semen. However, as long as the semen does not come out, the fast is not invalidated.
